I’ve tested and reviewed over 40 phones so far in 2025, and here’s my pick of the best for any budget. My favourite smartphones of the year include flagships like the OnePlus 13 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra, foldables like the Oppo Find N5 and camera beasts like the Vivo X200 Ultra. But what’s your own choice for the best phone right now?
If you need an affordable mobile, good news. I’ve tested a ton of mid-range and budget-friendly releases in 2025, including dependable camera phones like the Pixel 9a. The Nothing Phone 3a and 3a Pro are stunning value, as is that CMF Phone 2 Pro. And then there’s the Honor 400 Lite, if you want something that’s like an iPhone but less crap and cheaper.
Gaming phones have been thin on the ground so far, as have foldables. But expect a few more to launch in the latter half of 2025, at which point I’ll do another best smartphones round-up!

Yeah, im of those unfortunately that are too scared to buy chinese devices. More and more disliking americans as much.. any south american, indian, african. European alternatives next time ?

Can we get a smaller budget phone at max 6.3 inches under $300? Do I really have to pay $800+?
I don’t really understand the hype on OnePlus 13. Where I live (Greece) it’s the same money as Samsung s25+ which to my eyes offers better value in at least 2 important categories (camera and UI)
